C3 Esports is back.
Competition officially returns on September 14, with Overwatch opening a season that represents one of the biggest steps forward in C3 history.
Season 6 will close out C3’s third year of hosting collegiate esports competition and events across the Carolinas, but this season will look very different from the ones that came before it.
For the first time, C3 is expanding beyond its Rocket League roots.
The additions of Overwatch and Valorant bring two new competitive communities into the C3 ecosystem and mark the league’s first major expansion into additional game titles.
Rocket League has served as the foundation of C3 competition since the league began. Across multiple seasons, championships, broadcasts, and in-person events, the title helped establish many of the rivalries and programs that have shaped C3.
Season 6 begins the next stage.
Overwatch will become the first new title to officially begin C3 competition when matches start September 14, with Rocket League and Valorant following as the season gets underway.
That expansion means more schools, more players, more rivalries, and more championship stories developing under the C3 banner.
For Overwatch and Valorant competitors, Season 6 is an opportunity to begin building their own history in C3.
For Rocket League, however, there is already plenty of history on the line.
One of the biggest storylines entering the season belongs to Night and Niner Esports.
The UNC Charlotte veteran enters what is expected to be his final C3 season before graduating, giving him one last opportunity to add another championship to an already decorated collegiate career.
Night has already captured four C3 Rocket League championships.
Now he is chasing number five.
A fifth title would allow Night to officially close his college career as a five-time C3 champion, adding one final championship ring before his time competing at the collegiate level comes to an end.
One final season. One final run. One final ring.
But the rest of the league will have something to say about how that story ends.
Every opponent that faces Niner Esports has the opportunity to become the team that prevents the storybook finish.
