The first tickets to Spartanburg have officially been punched.

As the Fall 2026 Season moves through Week 5, four teams have done enough to mathematically secure their places at the C3 Playoff LAN.

In Overwatch, UNCA Esports and ECU Esports have both reached 5-0.

In Valorant, Lander Esports and UNCW Esports have matched them with undefeated 5-0 records.

Those four teams are officially guaranteed to finish inside their respective Top 8 fields and will compete at USC Upstate during the C3 Carolina Esports Festival, November 19 through 22. C3 Esports

“Qualifying for LAN is the first major goal every team has when the season starts,” said Nathan Hedrick, C3 Commissioner. “Once you know you’re going to Spartanburg, the conversation changes. Now every remaining match becomes about seeding, momentum, and putting yourself in the best position possible when playoffs begin.”

Five Wins Means Something Different Now

Throughout the season, C3 has talked about four wins as an important historical benchmark.

Teams reaching four victories have traditionally put themselves in an excellent position to qualify for LAN.

Week 5 is where the conversation becomes more specific.

In both Overwatch and Valorant, five wins is now mathematically enough to guarantee qualification based on the current standings and the number of matches remaining.

In Overwatch, ninth-place Wake Tech currently sits at 1-3. Even by winning every remaining regular-season match, Wake Tech can finish with no more than four victories. That means any team reaching five wins can no longer fall outside the Top 8. C3 Esports

The same is true in Valorant. ECU currently represents the highest possible ceiling among teams outside the Top 8 and can finish with no more than four victories from its current 1-3 record. A five-win Valorant team is therefore guaranteed to remain inside the LAN field. C3 Esports

“Four wins has always been the number where we start feeling really good about a team’s chances,” Hedrick said. “Five is different right now. In Overwatch and Valorant, five means there’s no more scenario to work through. You’re in.”

That distinction becomes important as more teams approach the qualification line.

UNCA and ECU Lock In Overwatch

The first two confirmed members of the Overwatch LAN field are UNCA Esports and ECU Esports.

UNCA currently leads the standings at 5-0 with a +15 differential, while ECU sits directly behind at 5-0 with a +14 differential. C3 Esports

Both programs have taken care of every series put in front of them through their first five matches.

Their reward is certainty.

Regardless of what happens throughout the remainder of the regular season, both teams will be playing in Spartanburg.

The focus now turns toward who can secure the highest seed.

ASU Esports is also undefeated at 4-0, while UNCW Esports remains perfect at 3-0, keeping pressure on the two current leaders as the regular season continues. C3 Esports

“UNCA and ECU have done exactly what you want to do early in a season,” Hedrick said. “They didn’t leave themselves waiting on somebody else’s result. They won their matches and took qualification into their own hands.”

Lander and UNCW Become the First Valorant Qualifiers

Valorant has produced an almost identical situation at the top.

Lander Esports and UNCW Esports both sit at 5-0 with a +9 differential, officially guaranteeing both programs a position in the eight-team Valorant LAN field. C3 Esports

The accomplishment carries an additional piece of significance.

The Fall 2026 Season is Valorant’s first season as part of C3 competition, meaning Lander and UNCW become the first two programs in league history to officially qualify for a C3 Valorant LAN.

Now the question becomes which program can claim the top seed.

Niner Esports White remains directly behind them at 4-1, while CSU Esports and Lander Esports Gold currently sit at 3-2. C3 Esports

“There wasn’t any previous C3 Valorant history coming into this season,” Hedrick said. “Every result this year is creating that history for the first time. Lander and UNCW being the first two teams to officially secure C3 Valorant LAN spots is something those programs get to own.”

Rocket League Is Different

Rocket League has not reached the same mathematical threshold yet.

That is important.

While five wins currently guarantees qualification in Overwatch and Valorant, five wins is not yet a universal C3 qualification number.

Rocket League currently has a much tighter field around the Top 8 cutoff.

Niner Esports and Gamecock Esports lead the standings at 4-0. CIU Rams Esports and Esports at NCSU are directly behind them at 4-1. C3 Esports

However, ninth-place UNCW currently sits at 2-2.

With three matches potentially remaining, UNCW can still reach five victories.

That means a Rocket League team finishing with five wins could still potentially find itself tied with other teams around the final qualification positions and dependent on C3 tiebreakers. C3 Esports

At the current point in the standings, six wins is the clean mathematical lock for Rocket League.

“This is why we don’t want teams thinking there’s one magic number that applies to every title,” Hedrick said. “The field determines the clinching number. Five wins has officially done it in Overwatch and Valorant. Rocket League is tighter, so there is still more work to do there.”

For the Rocket League leaders, that makes the final stretch particularly important.

They are extremely well positioned.

They just are not mathematically finished yet.

Qualification Is Only Step One

For the four teams already locked in, the remaining regular-season matches still matter.

Qualification guarantees a seat in Spartanburg.

It does not guarantee the path once they arrive.

Every additional victory can improve playoff positioning and help a team enter the LAN with momentum.

“Nobody wants to qualify and then coast through the last couple weeks,” Hedrick said. “You still want the highest seed you can earn. Once you get to LAN, the quality of competition is going to be high enough that every advantage matters.”

That creates two very different races heading into the final weeks.

Some teams are fighting to get into the Top 8.

Others already know they will be there and are now fighting over where they will be seeded.

Four Teams Are In

The list of confirmed Fall 2026 LAN teams now begins with four names.

Overwatch

  • UNCA Esports
  • ECU Esports

Valorant

  • Lander Esports
  • UNCW Esports

Rocket League is still waiting for its first mathematical clinch.

More teams are likely to join the list soon, but every title has its own qualification math, and nothing should be assumed until the numbers make it official.

For now, four teams no longer have to wonder whether they are going to Spartanburg.

They can start preparing for it.

The first tickets have been punched.

The race for the rest continues.
